Celebration of 68th Republic Day
India's 68th Republic Day was celebrated on January 26 morning at Consulate General of India, Birmingham with patriotic fervour and traditional enthusiasm. Consul General J K Sharma hoisted our flag and read out the address of Hon'ble President of India. More than 200 members of British and Indian community participated in the celebrations including dignitaries e.g. Mr. John Crabtree, Lord Lieutenant for West Midlands, Councillor Carl Rice, Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Ms Neena Gill,Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awardee(2017) and Member of European Parliament for West Midlands, Councillor Barry Findlay, Mayor of Wolverhampton, Mr Mohammad Zulqar Nain, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Birmingham, Mr. Paul Sabapathy, Former Lord Lieutenant, Dr. Satyavrat Sharma, DL, Dr. J.S. Tanque DL, Mrs Satinder Tanque,DL, Councillor Chaman Lal, Councillor Bawa , Shri Kuldeep Singh Ubhi, Mrs Chithra Ramakrishnan,Dr Venugopal Rao, Dr Ashok Kumar, Dr Prakash Sahay,Shri Avtar Singh Heer, Shri Dev Raj Suman,Shri Jas Wouhra, Shri Shakil Pathan and Dr. Krishan Kumar etc.On this occasion a cultural programme was also organised in which several artistes from Indian Community sang patriotic songs and performed classical dances.The certificates were given to all the artistes.
